About Me
I am an associate professor of economics at Scripps College, in Claremont, California. I previously held tenure track appointments at the University of Michigan, the New College of Florida, and Southwestern University. I am teaching courses in the areas of macroeconomics, money and banking, economic history, and corporate finance. My research interests lie in economic history, in particular the areas of money, credit, banking, and financial crises.
My research has been published in the Journal of Economic History, the Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, Explorations in Economic History, and the American Economic Review (Papers and Proceedings). I frequently interact and co-author with researchers at different Federal Reserve Banks such as the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, as well as the Office of Financial Research (OFR) at the U.S. Treasury and the FDIC.
The World Bank, Wall Street Journal, and the Brookings Hutchins Roundup have discussed several of my papers.
I have presented three times at different summer institutes of the National Bureau of Economic Research, The Federal Reserve Banks of Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, and Richmond, as well as multiple times at the Annual Meetings of the American Economic Association (AEA).
